To begin with, I will ask abort graphics, are you going to change something?
We will put effort so that everything will look as nice as possible, but we can’t do much due to the age of the engine. Maybe we will be able to implement HDTP support* into our mod, that is, make the HDTP have some influence on the quality of graphics in our mod. However, we cannot promise anything.
I understand, graphics is properly a minor issue, let’s talk about more important affairs, what about augmentations and weapons we will have at our disposal?
Of course, several new weapons will appear, including the Belgian FN F2000 assault rifle, which exists in reality, and a poison gas grenade. We will change - to a small degree - the way several weapon work and we will slightly increase the effectiveness of some augmentations (apart from that, maybe a few new augmentations will appear - Everett is a genius, after all).
Oh right - Morgan Everett will rule the world, from Deus Ex we know him as an ambiguous character - will there be any plot connected with this?
Maybe I will start by stressing that Everett will rule most of the world, taking JC’s (who will be careful towards him) opinion into consideration and cooperating with him as much as JC is inclined to do so.
I don’t really know what do you mean by talking about a plot connected with this, but anyway I will say that taking over authority in the USA will not be the only stage of his gaining world domination. I can’t reveal the details yet. Regarding the world situation and Illuminati’s plans regarding the next stages of taking over control over the world, I will say that I’m writing a Continuity Bible for the mod - everything will be described there. Let’s also remember that not only the Illuminati has ambitions - the Templars do as well, and they’re not helping JC benignly...
The Templars... you’re talking about the hidden continuators of the traditions of the organization dissoluted in the 14th century, or rather about the anarchizing technophobes known from Invisible War?
I’m taking about the organization that didn’t accept its formal dissolution in the 14th century. However, they - like the - Templars - from IW - will also not use augmentations, although it will turn out during the mod’s action that there once was one exception - Anyway, the Templars will be the same ones, that were once rich, and they will be still rich, and their financial influence will turn out to be quite big. They will cooperate with the Illuminati and you will see in the mod, how far will this cooperation go.
What music will we hear in P&L?
The music from the original Deus Ex. Primarily because it’s good music, and also because it’s not easy to find a composer.
A few people call P&L - the Polish mod -, but you look for help on international sites, the mod’s site is in English. In what/which language version(s) will the mod be available?
The mod’s site is in English because the mod is directed at the whole DX community. So the mod itself will be in English. I’m looking for help at other national sites and international sites because in Poland there may be not enough people willing to join the mod. However, I remember that is it was a Pole who joined the team as the first person. Apart from that, a Polish version of the site should exist soon.***
BTW - how many people are there in your team and how many more members do you need?
Apart from that, there are 4 people in the team. I need at least 1 more programmer of every kind – a mapper, a coder and a modeler - and the more of them there will be, the better.
Are you going to do voice acting for the dialogues?
: Unfortunately no, at least regarding the main characters (who speak most). That’s because doing voice acting for the characters is not an easy thing to do. Maybe we will do voice acting for some secondary characters, but this is doubtful for the same reason. Finding people who would do voice acting is not easy.
To what degree is the mod finished?
We still have a lot to do. Even the planning phase itself hasn’t been finished, because there are some secondaries to plan, however, planning will finish in an appropriate amount of time, anyway. The actual work on the mod is already going on.
And at least approximately, when can we expect the release of the mod?
Finishing the work on the mod will take a lot of time, because we want to create a good mod. However, it won’t be a long mod, because longer mod projects have a smaller chance of being finished. I hope that we will be able to finish it for this year’s winter.**** Everything depends on how many people will apply to work on the mod.
How are you going to solve the problem of the game’s difficulty and JC’s skills? (I mean that at the end of the game JC was considerably strengthened by augmentations and had a lot of skills.)
Regarding skills, the solution of the problem is not difficult: we’re going to give the player a lot of skill points to his disposal at the beginning. This won’t make the game to easy, especially that the enemies will be better armed (and choosing another solution, e.g. a ventilation channel, won’t make the game much easier). As to augmentations, it won’t be so easy, regarding the storyline, but we will think of a solution. But we surely won’t force the player to accept any augmentations, apart from the most popular ones and the ones that are useful both for agressors and the people who sneak through ventilation channels.
