Textures
DerianX: I liked the reflective floors in the main map
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, me too.
slicer: Hmm
DerianX: shiny
slicer: Nice reflection on textures, a good mixture of textures too
DerianX: I think they must clean with PineSol
Trystero: I like shiny things. The entire map should have been reflective.
CoMpUdOc: I have to say, some of those textures in the main map were...out of place?
DerianX: er..yes
slicer: Some were out of place
DerianX: some of the doors looked artificial
CoMpUdOc: Like the Advanced Sub base sign?
Trystero: I didn't see too many submarines.
DerianX: You didn't look hard enough
CoMpUdOc: and, for that matter, in the basement, that weird-ass texture behind the "Restricted Area" Sign
DerianX: Hmmm...Some of the textures were nicely used
slicer: heh
DerianX: I did notice a fair number of misalignments
slicer: yes
DerianX: like the refrigerators.
CoMpUdOc: What do you think, Tryst?
Trystero: I didn't like the texturing at the truck stop.
slicer: Some of the texturing was rather plain
Trystero: If there was a "Generic Truck Stop" chain...I think Tony's Truck Stop would be it.
DerianX: And the textures on the bathroom doors were odd...I mean, the "mens" or "ladies" textures were on both sides of the doors. I'd say once you're in you don't need to check
CoMpUdOc: True. Though...I wonder sometimes
DerianX: The attempt to use the skybox as a desert was valiant and all... but fails horribly.
CoMpUdOc: Indeed. That didn't work well at all.
slicer: lol, it looks very odd
CoMpUdOc: The whole thing is...odd
slicer: Walk to the edge and you'll be thinking "what the hell"
CoMpUdOc: Yep.
Trystero: The outside of the buildings were rather plain.
DerianX: Yes, very.
CoMpUdOc: Very.
DerianX: Hmmm
CoMpUdOc: That "Very advanced weapons building"...With basic brick o_O
Trystero: Shouldn't there be some sleazy ads stapled to the front of the truck stop? Or even the Secret Weapons Research lab?
CoMpUdOc: Did you not notice the billboard?
Trystero: That was the ONLY point of distinction.
DerianX: I hereby bestow upon this map, a rating for textures of five.
CoMpUdOc: I would have rathered the house of pain one.
DerianX: lol
Trystero: Indeed.
CoMpUdOc: 5 also.
slicer: I'd give it 5 too
Trystero: 4.5
slicer: Average 4.875
CoMpUdOc: o_O

Architecture
DerianX: hmmm
CoMpUdOc: Nothing stunning
slicer: Blocky
DerianX: Very cubic
CoMpUdOc: Yep.
DerianX: A few 45 degree angles
Trystero: The UNATCO office should have been more imposing. It looks like the principal's office from my old high school.
CoMpUdOc: I noticed too many "Phantom brushes", as I like to call them, in the opening level.
DerianX: no, that was collision radius on the eagle statue. It was scaled down, but the collision radius wasn't.
CoMpUdOc: oh...nm.
Trystero: Did anyone else notice in the office that you could not approach the bookshelf?
DerianX: yes
CoMpUdOc: That's what we're taking about
DerianX: read my last statement
slicer: yep
DerianX: There was an eagle statue scaled down to look like a trophy on the bookshelf
Trystero: I never pay attention to what you guys say. All that confusing terminology..."The Bifocating Collision Radius Multiplied by the Tangent of the Avatar Diameter.."
DerianX: but its original collision radius was intact...aaaaaaanyhoo
CoMpUdOc: ..yeaaaahhhh
DerianX: architecture = 3.5
slicer: I'll put a 3
Trystero: 3 for me as well.
* slicer slaps CoMpUdOc around a bit with a large hairy & slimy trout
CoMpUdOc: Well, I will say that the kitchen in the diner was kinda cool. 4
slicer: Average 3.375

Lighting
CoMpUdOc: Washed out
slicer: hmm, seems randomly placed, i.e. thrown together
CoMpUdOc: Only place that was done well was the Level 2 hallways
DerianX: I noticed one of my pet peeves; Unsourced lighting
Trystero: The Diner could have been more moodily lit. Instead it was illuminated like a bus station.
DerianX: lol Come to think of it.. It DID feel like a bus station. But I digress...The lighting was too consistent throughout
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, BRIGHT
DerianX: Many areas lit with no source
slicer: Yep. Not much effects to add to the atmosphere
DerianX: no flickers
slicer: Even the outside was rather bright
DerianX: no colors
slicer: yet again, no light source
CoMpUdOc: It was either, A: Dark, or B: Eye-blindingly bright
DerianX: 2.5
slicer: 2
Trystero: 3
CoMpUdOc: 2.5
slicer: 2.5 average

Sounds & music
CoMpUdOc: Music?!
DerianX: I heard footsteps, A turret or two.
slicer: Hmm, no music
CoMpUdOc: I didn't see a turret...
Trystero: There was no music, so I put on "The Best of the Village People" to occupy the silence.
slicer: I recall hearing some humming noise, very annoying
DerianX: er...camera, I mean.
CoMpUdOc: Though I did notice a little SoundFX
slicer: no turret
Trystero: Nice Sound FX in the upstairs lab.
CoMpUdOc: Yes.
DerianX: too subtle...but, hmm...overall, 1.5
slicer: 1
Trystero: 1
CoMpUdOc: 2
slicer: Average 1.375
Trystero: We may seem cruel...but fairness HURTS, boys and girls.
* slicer kills Trystero
Trystero: How very...just...of you.

Design & Playability
Trystero: Too easy.
slicer: yes
DerianX: Much
slicer: Good FPS on the map though :D
CoMpUdOc: Heh, yeah
DerianX: Yes, FPS was excellent.
CoMpUdOc: Still, weird design.
DerianX: The layout of the building was efficient. Nice style
Trystero: But not challenging.
DerianX: not at all
Trystero: TWO cameras in the hallways of a high-tech weapons research lab!?!?
DerianX: That last area seemed like a big booby-trap.
CoMpUdOc: It was. Whatever you choose, bots
slicer: yeb
Trystero: The area seemed bereft of guards. I could take down the patrols with my hands tied behind my back.
slicer: Layout was ok...seems a bit empty though
Trystero: Maybe everyone was on lunch break. :P
CoMpUdOc: Most likely. Damn MJ12, always on break
DerianX: One thing I found odd...there were no windows. I mean, there were holes...but no glass. What would they do if it rained?!?
CoMpUdOc: Hmmm, you're right.
DerianX: Or in a sandstorm?
CoMpUdOc: er...Plywood?
slicer: lol
DerianX: hehe
Trystero: I did the entire map with grenades. An EMP through the "slit" that passed as a window takes out the ONE hostile bot on hallway duty. A LAM toasted the idiots in the control room.
DerianX: ditto
CoMpUdOc: I was a little more hand's-on
slicer: talking about high tech security
DerianX: I took out the bot before I even entered
CoMpUdOc: I placed a LAM for the bot, and took out the guards with my pistol
Trystero: I took out the cameras with multitools.
DerianX: I didn't kill the guards. I didn't kill anyone
* slicer refrains from saying anything
Trystero: I ended up killing everyone.
CoMpUdOc: You always do.
DerianX: I guessed the code for the upstairs keypads, then I read the datacube
CoMpUdOc: You...guessed it?
DerianX: I was like "woah" first try
Trystero: The base security was so light you could run in shooting and encounter little difficulty.
CoMpUdOc: The easy code, or the hard code?
DerianX: I walked up, pressed "1234" and viola
CoMpUdOc: Yeah. Only hard part was the two Mill bots
DerianX: yeah
CoMpUdOc: But the nicely placed GEPgun helped
DerianX: but they were dumb
Trystero: That was the easiest part of all.
CoMpUdOc: Then I ended up killing Dad, but that's another tale.
slicer: ...
Trystero: I ducked underneath the counter and bots couldn't seem to see me.
CoMpUdOc: :P
slicer: :p
Trystero: Then I gave the Mill bots a good dose of plasma.
DerianX: plasma hurts bots?
Trystero: Yes, it does. As for Daddy...I capped him with a pistol at close range.
DerianX: hmm...anyhoo. Way too easy. Too small.
CoMpUdOc: Yep.
slicer: 2.5
CoMpUdOc: 3
DerianX: Too premeditated, No security stopping you from getting downstairs. but once you're there, there are a pair of military bots and heavily armed scientists
slicer: hmmm
Trystero: The employees seemed EAGER to sabotage their employment.
DerianX: hehe. 3
Trystero: It may be a good level for beginners...4.
DerianX: Yes
slicer: 3.125 averagegjkeofjmewp
DerianX: Play this before you play the game ;) Training was harder
Trystero: For those of us who have seen the HORROR of DXMP...we practically fell asleep.
slicer: lol
DerianX: :P

Item placement
DerianX: *cough*
CoMpUdOc: Well...
Trystero: There was NO FOOD at the Truck Stop.
slicer: Not a lot...
DerianX: hmmm
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, I was hungry.
DerianX: They had soy food. I bought some
CoMpUdOc: Oh, joy.
DerianX: overpriced though. The chef was a jerk!
CoMpUdOc: I hear that you can get a good deal down the road at Vandenberg.
DerianX: hehe
Trystero: I hit the chef with the prod and threw him in the ladies room.
DerianX: ;)
CoMpUdOc: Ruthless bastard. In any case...
DerianX: Item placement was good and bad all at once. Good balance of items
CoMpUdOc: Yeah
DerianX: but the weapon distribution, oi.
Trystero: But then...the janitorial closets at the Weapons Facility seemed to be miniature bunkers.
DerianX: Yes. I don't know why they had the GEP gun in a prototype thingy.
CoMpUdOc: I didn't get the 2 aug cans in a closet. Isn't that something you would keep in...say...a SAFE?
slicer: hmm, I'd say that there were one lockpick too many :p
Trystero: It would seem reasonable to assume that all the employees could access the weapons...unless they couldn't figure out the amazingly difficult door access codes.
DerianX: prolly. hehe
CoMpUdOc: We're talking the DX AI here. Comeon.
slicer: yebching
Trystero: It was too convenient for my taste.
slicer: You can walk past the guards in broad daylight and they won't see you
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, I didn't get that.
Trystero: To have every weapon you could need just lying right in front of you.
DerianX: ...
CoMpUdOc: The bots and guards we're supposed to see you.
DerianX: Isn't this Item placement?
CoMpUdOc: Yes...NPC's are items.
slicer: hehe
DerianX: Their orders aren't :P
CoMpUdOc: ...yes they are ;)
Trystero: I frobbed the secreta....ER.....YES! Back on topic!
DerianX: Not enough guards
CoMpUdOc: Nope.
DerianX: too many weapons, too many augs
slicer: yep. Too easy yet too many items
DerianX: But not terrible
Trystero: Any idiot could just stroll into the building and blow everyone away with all that stuff.
DerianX: 4
CoMpUdOc: 4
slicer: 3
Trystero: 3
slicer: 3.5 average

Storyline
DerianX: Well, it was definitely linear
CoMpUdOc: Hmmm
slicer: Storyline seemed to make a bit of sense. Nothing fancy though
DerianX: The scripting wasn't great
CoMpUdOc: The story...was... Interesting
DerianX: But the concept was terrific
CoMpUdOc: Yeah
Trystero: It was just one thing after another. Very simple. FIND THY FATHER! HERE ARE SOME GUNS! GO TO THE TRUCK STOP! HITCH A RIDE! NOW BLOW UP THE LAB! YOU KILLED YOUR OWN FATHER! OH THE SHAME OF IT! CONGRATULATIONS! A JOB WELL-DONE! THE END!
DerianX: ROFL
CoMpUdOc: You forgot, "YOU SAVED YOUR FATHER!", after you killed him
DerianX: Maybe... You only knocked him out
Trystero: I killed him and got another ending.
slicer: ...
DerianX: that "Dead Body" outline was all a LIE!
CoMpUdOc: If you do what the readme says, and type "open rescueend", it says that your father is getting help for his memory loss... Even if you killed him...
Trystero: No...That is NOT the ending that I watched.
CoMpUdOc: ...
slicer: Did you travel or open?
CoMpUdOc: open
slicer: umm
CoMpUdOc: it said to open
slicer: travel, not open
CoMpUdOc: it said to open
slicer: ..fewojfpwoi
CoMpUdOc: it said to open
Trystero: I used the cheat "Legend" menu.
slicer: ib!
CoMpUdOc: "After the final fight when you beat the last person. You are supposed to open a chest and that will trigger the final map change to the Epilogue. It wont work and after the fight, the only way to advance is to hit the "Talk" key and type in the cheat "open rescueend""
DerianX: Sooo
Trystero: There was nothing in the damn chest.
slicer: damn right
CoMpUdOc: Yep.
Trystero: But I saw an alternate ending.
DerianX: CoMp, Traveling makes more sense.
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, it does.. However, I did what the readme said, Just as any n00b would...and it didn't work ...
DerianX: Anyhoo
Trystero: The story should have provided the setting with mounting tension and anticipation.
slicer: 4.5
DerianX: I give the story 6.5
CoMpUdOc: 6
slicer: The story just didn't follow the way DX should be. Tense, suspicion, etc...
Trystero: 4
DerianX: It was poorly executed, but the plot was good
slicer: Average 5.25
Trystero: I do not agree.
slicer: Ploop :p
DerianX: :P

Fun factor
slicer: Not a fascinating map
DerianX: Well
Trystero: I had fun...when I was first exploring the main building.
DerianX: Somewhat
slicer: It got pretty boring soon...
DerianX: yep
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, the initial exploration was cool...after that...erk
Trystero: But when I saw that it was smaller than my local doctor's office...it got a little repetitious.
DerianX: the fact that it was so easy...
slicer: lack in mixture of activities just doesn't bring the map out
Trystero: No side quests or alternate goals.
DerianX: After I killed the bots and my dad (he was shooting me), I decided to wipe the slate entirely ;)
CoMpUdOc: Yeah.
DerianX: and killed everyone/thing
CoMpUdOc: It was a bitch.
DerianX: I was like "what do I do?" fight back? Run? Press a button? Use one of the many clean and spacious bathrooms?
Trystero: I ran out once...the door closed and it was just Me v.s. Dad. So I roasted his ass with plasma.
CoMpUdOc: Awww...meanie
Trystero: But I found I could not get back into the lab. The control panel would not let me.
CoMpUdOc: Good.
DerianX: no, you have to kill the bots. For overall fun though...
Trystero: I would slate this map as Incomplete or a map for beginners.
* slicer pokes CoMpUdOc
DerianX: 5
slicer: 5
Trystero: 5
CoMpUdOc: 4.5
slicer: grrr
...
slicer: average 4.875
CoMpUdOc: :P
* slicer jumps up and down on CoMpUdOc's head.
DerianX: hehe

Final thoughts
DerianX: hmmm...Easier than Kelly Bundy.
CoMpUdOc: no, Easier than Bud Bundy
Trystero: That girl at the truck stop sure passed out quickly with a few tranq darts in her.
DerianX: hehe
slicer: A lot of improvement needed to spicen up this map, which looks promising. I do mean a lot. Need to add more items, make the map more challenging
CoMpUdOc: MORE ITEMS?>!
DerianX: More variety perhaps
Trystero: More hostile patrolling bots. More inquisitive guards. Fewer weapons. More desperation.
DerianX: yes
CoMpUdOc: What he said.
DerianX: I was all cautious
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, me too.
DerianX: I could have charged in with a pistol and cleared the place out
Trystero: There was also NO alternate entry point to the main building.
CoMpUdOc: I took out the bot, and thought "ok..." "...." "....." ...
Trystero: The author of this map needs to FINISH it up...polish the rough spots and make improvements. It's not bad...just incomplete.
DerianX: "That's it? no death squad coming to break my ankles?"
CoMpUdOc: Yeah, I'd agree...Like Hotel Carone..
DerianX: The main storyline was intriguing..
Trystero: The story could use some work, in my opinion.
CoMpUdOc: Yep. Though, it's one of the better storylines I've seen in a FM
DerianX: I mean the "your dad is alive and being held captive" part
Trystero: There needed to be more twists and intrigue.
CoMpUdOc: Yep.
slicer: yeb
DerianX: Well I've said my piece
CoMpUdOc: Send this one back to the shop.
