Minor
Races
Denuvians
The Denuvian people are hardy and
determined. They have evolved powerful frames and muscles to resist intense
gravity, an amazing tolerance to radiation and atmospheric toxins, and a keen
instinct for survival. The belief that brain and brawn are mutually exclusive
has been proved untrue by the Denuvians; under hostile conditions they have
managed to make astounding advances in micro-technology, computer science,
and space travel. The Denuvians are for the most part a practical people, and
have little need or understanding of the fine arts. Due to their artistically
unappreciative nature and physical prowess, they have become the butt of many
"dumb" jokes throughout the galaxy, but any engineer who has
examined the microscopic computers exported from Denuva has taken on a very
high opinion of them. Denuvians are humanoids, muscular in almost comic
proportions, averaging around 7'5 and 350-400 pounds. Their skin may range
from brilliant blue to violet to emerald green. This is ironic since they see
in a different color range than most humanoids, and things towards the blue
end of the spectrum are gray and muddy to them. Denuvian structures are lit
with garish red lights, and a Denuvian flashlight bathes everything in a
brilliant blood color. They are omnivorous, and even have the ability to
extract some nutrients from minerals and stone.
Grentinites
Hulking green frog-like amphibians. Some
have dual brains. Insectivorous. Croaking language. Favored weapon is a four
foot curved blade called a Yatagan, useful for both fighting and hacking
through thick growths of plant life. Every Grentinian is given one at birth.
Extremely strong legs, capable of great leaps. Can breathe both air and water
and can survive indefinitely submerged in liquid.
Fifas
Thin and reptilian, the Fifas are one of the
younger sentient races to have moved into the flow of Chain events. They
appear to have evolved from a tree-climbing species of reptile. Despite the
fact that they now travel the stars, this race has not developed any
significant technology of its own. Their levels of technological and social
development were extremely low—they were capable of shaping metals, they
herded non-sentient indigenous life forms and lived in warring tribal
organizations—unless the had contact with the Sif.
Analysts now believe that a splinter clan
of the Sif landed in the oceans of Fley-tak nearly 50 years ago and
discovered the Fifas. In this fledgling race, the Sif saw opportunity and
potential, so they formed a quick alliance with the Fifas. The Sif have
provided the Fifas with the technology to build a number of ships and have
greatly increased the technology levels in two of Fley-tak’s major Fifas
cities.
Since Fley-tak is rich in various rare
metals, the Fifas have prospered thus far. However, since they are suspicious
by nature, inexperienced and have the Sif for advisors, the Fifas’
interactions with other space-faring races have thus far been less than
successful. Numerous Fifas pirate vessels have been reported.
Physically, Fifas are light of frame,
green-scaled with dark leg-and-arm markings. They possess sharp, yet
resilient claws and a dappled, bony plate protects their heads.
