Deus Ex 2 Frequently Asked Questions
About this FAQ
This FAQ should answer the most common questions about Deus Ex: Invisible War.
Note that this does not include every known fact about DXIW and that just like everything else,
this information is subject to change. If you notice something that is wrong or find that your
burning question isn't here and should be, please e-mail us.
- What platforms can I expect to see IW on?
ION has decided to release the game for the PC and the Xbox. There is no word of a Macintosh version, unfortunately.
- What are the differences between Xbox and PC versions, if any?
Xbox colors will be more saturated due to television displays. However, you get some free anti-aliasing.
PC users will have the option to run the game in higher resolutions.
Beyond that, the content and codebase is identical.
- Will my computer be able to handle the game? What kind of hardware do I need to run this beast?
The official system requirements are as follows:
- Operating System: Windows 98SE/2000/XP (95/NT not supported)
- CPU: Intel Pentium(R) IV 1.3ghz (or AMD Athlon XP (TM) equivalent)
- RAM: 256 MB
- GRAPHICS: 32 MB DirectX 9.x compatible 3D graphics cards (Supported Chipsets: nVidia GeForce 3TI/4TI/FX--GeForce MX not supported--and ATI Radeon 8500/9xxx or higher. Pixel Shader 1.1 required)
- SOUND: 100% DirectX 9.x compatible
- CD-ROM: Quad Speed (4X) CD-ROM drive
- HARD DRIVE: 2GB free disk space
- INPUT DEVICES: 100% Windows 98 SE/2000/XP compatible mouse and keyboard

- Why isn't the game saving my video, audio and game settings?
Actually, it is, it just isn't doing so in the way one would expect:
the game settings are saved as part of the savegame. Even though
the startup menu is in low-res, once you're actually in-game, your
settings will take effect.
- Are there any editing tools?
It is very unlikely at this point that ION Storm will be releasing an SDK for the game. There are, however, several tweaking utilities
available on the Files page.
- What about multiplayer?
There are no known plans for multiplayer capabilities.
- Does DXIW have multiple endings like the original?
Invisible War includes four possible endgames, based on your decisions in the game.
- How are the multiple endings from the first game handled?
ION has struggled with this problem, and ended up incorporating elements from all three endings.
- Who is doing the music for IW?
Alexander Brandon is responsible for most of the music and sound aspects of the
project. There are also several songs from kidneythieves' album, "trickstereprocess"
--more on the thieves on their website.
- Have the plot elements relating to terrorism been changed or cut due to the September 11th tragedy?
No, the team prefers the game to have relevancy to current world events.
